I think the guy in this video is looking at technology all the wrong way, I think that putting down your phone and being a part of the world is great but people are not smart enough to do that correctly. If you take away technology then we're back to the old ways, where no one is informed about anything and no one has the courage to share their opinion, and where wars are started because of arguements. Technology gives everyone a common point, whether you love or hate that video on the Internet, there are thousand, maybe even millions that agree with you, it's a way to combine and share, and love, and create, and it can be a wonderful thing. So wonderful that when thousands of people leave the same comment on the same video the creator applogizes, or fixes it, etc. you cannot take away life but you cannot take away technology. The two forces must learn to coenside next to each other.

In 3rd grade I ran the Jog-A-Thon and tied for the most laps in my grade, this was my most successful physical task as the winners of the Jog went to the roller rink one day during school. A bunch of fellow students went and it made me feel seccessful for doing something as easy as just running. That's all I did, I just ran and put work into it and I won, at the time I didn't even know the winners went on the field trip.

Cinco de Mayo is certainly another excuse to party and for companies to sell stuff, but the moral is there for some people. America is a place where there are thousands of different cultures, Mexian heritiage just happened a to be one of the big ones, for buisness owners it's seen as an opertunity, for people who lived, died, experienced, etc it has meaning to, and I'm sure those people take offense to the buisness owners who are selling things for what they believe is an important holiday.

Journal for Monday, May the 4th be with you, 2015

I just like the journal topics in general, they all are opinionated and it makes the class, and myself feel like the reader cares about our expressive feelings.

Journal for April 29, 2015

Adults test their kids to make sure their ready for their future, and to make sure they are ready to "take on the world" because they think that we can't handle ourselves as we are young and inexperienced. But I find this very hypocritical because they were once in the same boat as they were once our age. It's the old "you generation of music sucks" things.

My Modernist

I am choosing Ernest Hemmingway because I was one of the few names I recognized and when I was at home thinking about the assignment I thought to myself "I'll do Ernest Hemmingway or something" and I honestly didn't know if that way an actual name on the list and the. I looked again and he WAS on there, so I figure his name and works would be easy to remember.

Spring Break Essay

Beebe, Ethan Blake
Period 3
April 12, 2015
Why I am A Human Being

There are hundreds of thousands of logical reasons why I am a human. I have all the organs a human should have, I walk, talk, and act like the average human. But the biggest reason why I think I am a human is because I can experience the feelings of human emotions. I'm sure you could give a robot human emotions, and you can make them talk, walk, and act like a human, but you could never make a robot feel what its like to breath the air we live on, and have a  personal true to them, opinion about it. Opinions, Emotions, etc these are things that are beyond my level of explaining, and honestly I don't want to try (because it's very complicated) but it's something every human being has, you can;t take it away. Nobody can, because nobody has the physical or mental power to, robots are programmed, they think act and do what they do because of how their made, humans are similar, they are raised a certain way to be the person they are, but the difference with humans is that we have the power to say no. We might not always do it, but we always have the choice, and that power cannot be taken away until we die.

Over the break I read "Do Robots Dream of Electric Sheep", the story is about a bounty hunter that works for the police and live around what seems is all androids. I won't get too deep into it, but at one point in the story he is being accused of being an android by androids. This made me think of the reasons why I am a human, and made me think of what would be going through my head in that position. I don't think, in that situation, I could contain my anger, confusion, and frustration, and like Montag in Fahrenheit 451, I would probably go on some sort of rampage. This book reminded me a lot of Fahrenheit 451 in many way, the biggest being the way the world was out of context with our own.

  Ps.
I know one of the "Blade Runner" movies is based on  "Do Robots Dream of Electric Sheep" and I would've read Ready Player One but it was far too long for me to finish in the time I had, plus I want to read that book on my own time and at my own pace so i can enjoy it more since I know it's a great book and there is going to be a good movie on it coming out soon.

Master Piece Update

I love video games, they bring people together in ways I've never seen before. To make one would be my ultimate goal, to play one is an everyday goal, and to share that everyday experience with as many people as I can is at least a weekly goal, if not a daily goal. I have no idea on what I want to do realistically. I know at some point I want my pilots licence as well as my regular license, as well as a job, but all I really want in my life is to help others, because I tend to be a very selfless person, I'd be the rich guy that gives all his fortune away to people that need it, all I really want from life is to barley get by, and to maybe experience some things that not most do. So, I'll continue to work on my YouTube channel and I'll try to get started working on this game. A game takes so much to make perfect, and that's all I want is to make a perfect, simple, and lovable game. But I'm still doubting my ability to do it.

Media Examples of Fallacies

Now I couldn't really find my own examples, for I did not the time, but I found this video that has many different examples in the media, and explains them well. If this doesn't help you, I don't know what will.

The things you forgot

Appeal to pity
Argument to logic
Sweeping generalization (Dicto simpliciter)

My Masterpiece

I'm not too sure really, I know I want to do something with technology like coding, and game design, but I feel life is too short to just do one thing. I've also thought about being a pilot, serving in the military somehow, going to college, doing something big. All I know is i like helping people making people laugh, and the best way I could think of doing that on a grand scale would be to create some sort of content. So, I've dabbled in game design, and other things but the big thing I've been working on is my Youtube channel; https://www.youtube.com/user/NotSoHeroicGaming and live streaming games on my twitch channel; http://www.twitch.tv/notsoheroic I'll try to keep updating as much as I can.

What I think needs to change. (Some Harsh Words)

For god's sake where do I start. I guess I could start with looking at our class and comparing it to the Spinx class. They have a blog a goal and it means something to all of them. Our class is still "shy" about things, nobody seems too interested accept die hard people like Caitlin and Maddi, or Morgan, and sometimes myself. I don't mean to be too hypocritical, as I tend to blow off the class often as well as many others in the class. I'm not the type of person who could lead the class, but I'd like to because it doesn't seem like there are many that want the job. The class isn't hard, in fact it's bullshit work that I blow off often because I don't see why I should try when the most of the class doesn't. I think the class needs to contribute to something we all can be a part of, and for those who don't want to then you can be thrown out for all I care. I'm not mad, in fact I'm one of those people in the class. But as Dr. Preston always says were going to look back on these days and think " OH! that's what he meant". I find it disrespectful what we as a class do to Dr. Preston, he gives us opportunities I know nobody can give us, and we shut him down? Who the hell are we to do that? He's one of the few teachers out there that still give a crap, and most students would agree with that. But as far as my idea for the class I have no idea where to start. But I think it needs to start with a conversation on things we could do as a class, the work we get from Preston is far too independent for the majority of the class, so if we need to all monitor each other like children then we must. But seriously people, this is your life right in front of your eyes, the actions you make now effect your future extensively, and I feel like most of you don't realize that. Like I told my friend Gage the other night, we can't just keep waiting for the day for something to happen, because that day may never come, but if you are constantly working towards that goal, that thing you want to happen in your life, the quicker its going to happen, and the quicker you can get new goals and prosper as a person. As far as I'm concerned if your coming to class everyday with the intent of blowing the work off and screwing around, every single day, than in my eyes you either need to clean up your act or be prepared to fail the rest of your life.

Chapter 8 Response

Holden walks the entire way to the train station and catches a late train to New York. At Trenton, an attractive older woman gets on and sits next to him. She turns out to be the mother of his classmate, Ernest Morrow. He dislikes Ernest immensely but tells extravagant lies about him to his mother, claiming that he is the most popular boy on campus and would have been elected class president if he’d let the other boys nominate him. Holden tells her his own name is Rudolph Schmidt, which is actually the school janitor’s name. When she asks why he is leaving Pencey early, Holden claims to be returning to New York for a brain tumor operation. Holden seems to lie for no apparent reason, and he enjoys it. This chapter is really about Holden lying, before he just told us about how good of a liar he is. This chapter he shows it.

Chapter 6 Response

In chapter 6 Holden gets into a fight with his room mate, I don't think his room mate actually know what the fight was about, but Holden is practically in love with the girl Stradlater went on a date with. Holden thinks he had sex with her, and became very upset. Holden calls him names and such, but Stradlater is a tough jock type, he ends up just knocking out Holden. I don't know these two's past but I think this may be their fist major conflict, I'm guessing this because before in chapter 3-4 Holden seemed to almost like Stradlater.

Chapter 3-5

In chapter 3 we see Holden talk about how he is a good liar because he lied about going to the gym to his teacher. He goes back to his dorm room where his neighbor Ackley is also, they are the only people that aren't at the football game. Ackley is described as the annoying kid who won't leave you alone, he has acne and pops his pimples all over Holden's room and all that sort of stuff, and then his roomate Stradlater comes home from the football game and gets ready for his date, Stradlater is described as your typical jock type. He's stronger that Holden and acts like a big shot, the typical jock like attitude, and in chapter 4 Holden goes into the shower and discusses with Stradlater about his date. His date is a girl that Holden knows and has feelings for. He says several times that he should go say hi to her but ends up not, Stradlater asks Holden to do his homework for him while he goes on this date, Holden doesn't fully answer him. Holden in chapter 5 goes out to the movies with his friend from his fencing team, Mal Brossard, he also invited Ackley, they never end up going to the movies, they ended up grabbing some burgers and playing pinball and ended up going back to the dorms, Ackley annoys Holden for a while longer until Holden finnally says that he has to do Stradlaters homework and kicks him out, instead of writing about some dumb room or house, the thing he's supposed to write about. He writes about his younger brothers baseball mitt. His brother wrote poems in this mitt so when he was on the field and nobody was batting he would have something to do, he describes his brother in such detail, only to later reveal that his brother had died in his past.

ALL THAT DAVID COPPERFIELD KIND OF CRAP

Chapter 1 introduces a school troubled sixteen year old who seems to have lost his purpose in life. His name is Holden Caulfield. He has flunked many of his classes and is being kicked out of his school. He goes to a school football game, but instead of going he stays up on top of a nearby hill. During this time he describes his fellow peers. He describes the people around him as spoiled snobs who are cold hearted. He says the richer they are the more crime that comes. He then runs to his History teachers house which is nearby. In Chapter 2 he has arrived at his history teachers house, when he knocked on the door Mrs. Spencer opened the door. She greeted him with a smile on her face, in my own opinion it was a smirk on her face, she knew about him being kicked out and she was happy about it. She took his coat and sent him upstairs to his history teachers room, where he was sick. He lectured him of which Holden mostly ignored and wandered off.

MUSIC AS LITERATURE

We define literature as "written works, especially those considered of superior or lasting artistic merit." This PROVES that music is literature. Musicians write their lyrics, these lyrics have an artistic value, they have an emotional value. As i said in class today, no artist just writes a song, songs come from past experiences, and the heart. Even if you write a song about nothing, the song itself becomes a past experience and the song itself means something to you. The only difference between a novel, a poem, a rap, a song, an opera, and a symphony is the meaning to the writer/ musician, and the style of which they choose. I just want to add that music is not just literature, but the writer of music is an author.
